What do your hubs say? 1 style is AUTO-LOCK other is UNLOCKED-LOCKED

either way if thry are in the locked position and you engauge it you'll be in 4x4

Should be turning the hubs counterclock-wise is free, clock-wise will lock them in

My Ranger has auto matic locking wheels. To disengage them you need to take it out of 4 wheel drive and then back up 10 feet to unlock the hubs.:hellox:

Totally agree, the markings are BS and the hubs are cast piles of crap. If you use a switch to engage 4wd rather than a lever, your hubs totally rely on a o-ring to stay engaged, what happens a few years down the road when that o-ring dry rots? you accidently slide off the road and now need that 4wd to get out, and OOOPPPPSSS that thing fails. No ford guy should keep that particular ford part on their truck, if its an auto hub it should automatically go straight in the trash. Warn, Superwinch, Mile Marker, all great hubs, all mechanical, all reliable, and all have a lifetime warranty!!!! ever had to fix one? The tech leads you thru it over the phone its so easy, there's nothing to them, even the most inept person can rebuild or repair a manual hub.

Can you tell I've been screwed by the auto hubs and hate them with a passion? mine blew apart simply plowing and took out the bearing before I could get home, $600 in parts to fix it. Mile Markers all the way on my dually.
