avg life of stock trans?

my stock trans just went out i have 2001 7.3l with a edge chip i had 238,000 miles on her but im wondering what the avg life of them? i bought it used and she was pulling 2-3 ton trailers all day i got it when she had 215,000 on her. i had a feeling that it was going to go out but whats the avg life mileage ?

im getting a rebuild one from jasper transmissions, i hear they are great

Jasper's are good, but I'm not sure how well they'll hold up on a modded truck. I don't think there's really an "average life span". Too many things have to be considered. How hard it's worked, maintained, abused, fluid temps, ect.

Jasper is fine if your going to be running it stock. Id look at a better rebuild.

depends on mods, my dad has an '02 with 175,000+, it has a banks bundle (sixgun, exhaust, trans command, and bighead wastegate). his torque converter is just starting to struggle locking up and we usually tow and haul with it

IMO...I would make sure you get a triple disk torque converter. Jaspers are OK, I wouldn't go as far as saying they are great... Transmission life is short on these trucks, unfortunately. Ford could have done much better on an essential part of the truck. My uncle's FIL just replaced his at 70k miles in his superduty. It's just a weak link in these trucks.
