tc lock up mod
im wanting to do a tc lock up mod, i was looking around and ive read i could run a ground wire to a switch and just splice it into a purple w/ yellow tracer wire under the master cylinder and that will lock the tc when i want to and still allow the computer to lock it when it needs to, is this correct?

No you need to do it with a relay and stuff. If you do it that way you can send 12v back to the pcm and fry it
|
okay so how would i go about doing this? i know I'm not the smartest person, but how could i send 12v to the pcm if I'm running a ground wire? there wouldn't be any power running through the switch,
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- oh and also i just hooked up my EBPV to be an exhaust break, now would i be able to hear a difference between it being open and closed at idle? |
Well when you splice into the tc wire its gonna go to the trans and the ocm when you turn it on. And yes youll hear it at an idle
|
okay, so how would i go about wiring this thing up? what should i hear when i close the valve?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- and are you able to drive with the valve closed? ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- so does anybody else know how to wire up the tc lock up mod???? |

It will be a loud woosh. Cant miss it with your stacks. I wouldnt hit the gas you can use it as an exhaust brake if the tc is locked. I have a diagram I made with a guy. Can follow it if you want be careful and dont blame me if you fry a pcm haha/ All I remember for parts you need is a double pole double throw relay and a 22k resistor or something close to that.

okay thank you, i wasnt saying i didnt want to do it your way, i was just wondering if anybody else how to do it,
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- could i splice a ground into that wire, and put a diode after the splice so 12volts couldn't run back through the system? like wire a ground to the switch and cut the wire under the dash, and wire them together, then connect a diode to it and connect the other end of the diode to the wire going to the tranny, would that keep it from frying the computer? |
Im not too good with electrical. Not sure. I think that causes the o/d light to flash then its locked when pcm thinks it shouldnt be. I am not an electrical guy, I just put a retifier diode and hooked my pcm back up to the ebpv valve so the pcm can still actuate it but that isnt working either its got me stumped.
|
okay, thank you, i guess im goin with your picture haha, im not about to fry anything and ruin my truck haha
|
So I know the OD light will flash if the TC is locked and the PCM did not command it to, but will it also flash if the PCM doesn't get a signal when it DID command it to lock? (i.e. diode in the purple/yellow wire between PCM and added switch) A diode would allow the PCM to send it's signal to the trans to lock TC, but not back to the PCM when locked. :humm:
