radiator stop leak??

i noticed i had a leak from my radiator last night, i dont know if its coming from the front or the rear, i was wondering if radiator stop leak is good to run in these trucks, and if so whats the best kind? after sitting for bout 40 min on a slight incline i had a spot bout 4 in long by 2 in wide, and i seen the bottom of radiator was covered, thanks for the help guys

okay now im confused, i went and looked and i took the cap off the over flow, and it still had pressure after setting for bout 12 hours? i loosened the cap and it hissed, now if i had a leak it wouldnt hold pressure would it?

imo, that radiator stop leak sh*t is just that, sh*t. if that stuff really stops a leak, think what it could do to the rest your truck's coolant passages it comes in contact with.:td:

it will stop small leaks but i never was a fan of it.

you sure you're overflow didn't leak?

Uncle Bubba 12-19-2010 04:32 PM

If your radiator cap is bad it may not be holding the pressure right and forcing coolant through the weep hole on the water pump if it's holding to much pressure or out the cap itself if it's not holding enough pressure.

so since its still holding pressure after 12 hours, you think its just my cap? its not coming out of water pump, the bottom of radiator on passenger side is wet

Uncle Bubba 12-19-2010 07:44 PM

After 12 hours of sitting you still have pressure:scare2:. Never heard of such.

If this leak is when your driving and just dripping off while sitting the leak could be coming from anyplace. Them fans blow the smallest drips all over the place.

ya i pulled the cap off and it hissed for maybe a second, first time ive ever heard of such a thing, its not a major leak, i filled it bout 3 weeks ago and its dropped bout maybe 4 inches on the overflow

If your holdin pressure like that, the only things I can thing of is the cap and or the thermostat. Something is stuck and you don't want to end up blowin a freeze plug.
