Brake calipers

So I need to replace my calipers and what little searching I've done I found that I can get some Wagner's for around $90 a piece or SSBC's for $1500, I'd love to have the SSBC's but can't afford them. My question is there anything in between in price? or more/better options out there? Is there a huge difference in brake performance if you upgrade?(I don't do any heavy towing/racing) should I just rebuild them? or is true that rebuilding them was more of a pain than it's worth to rebuild? The reason I wanted to upgrade was because I'd heard that our truck calipers are a poor design at best, and if there is something that helps with stopping power, are more reliable, for a little more money then that's the route I'll take. Sorry for all of the questions I just want to get the best bang for buck out there.

I just use what I can find at O'Rielley's, NAPA, ect. I've never had any issues. If you don't heavy tow or race you should be fine.

Go to Carquest. I picked a set up from there (not sure of the brand) for 88 bucks. Was a little over 90 after tax (8 cents to the dollar). That is if you're looking for affordable instead of high performance. I've put maybe 2k miles on it so far and no problems at all.
