hard start

my 99 7.3 wont start if i let i sit outside over night even pluged in, but if i put it in the garage it starts just fine and the garage is just about as cold as lettin it sit outside:humm: any sugustions on what it could be.

batteries going dead? sounds like the batteries are weak after the wind hitting em all night long, cause u have to have so much oil pressure to get fuel to injectors, if your truck isnt cranking fast enough you wont reach the 300 or so oil psi

farmboy01 12-07-2010 10:42 PM

its got two brand new bateries in it. i thought that to but it didnt help, the block heater heats it up in the garage but not when i leave it out side.

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 10:46 PM

weak glow plugs, or glow plug relay? getting to cold and the glow plugs not able to heat up enough? the cold wind could cause problems, it sucks

farmboy01 12-07-2010 10:47 PM

thats what i thought im going to change them tomorow, what kind would you sujust

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 10:51 PM

ive asked and people say there aint no better than the stock motorcraft glow plugs, they arent cheap tho, around here there 12 a piece, i ordered mine, im low on money so i did research and i found out that diesel rx are almost the exact same they heat up to 800 degrees, they run less than 10 a piece

farmboy01 12-07-2010 10:55 PM

thanks for the info. i apriciate it its a pain when you have to go some where and your truck dont want to start.

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 10:56 PM

yup i know how that is, i cant drive mine till they get here cause it wont start :dang: so im driving a chevy blazer :scare2:

farmboy01 12-07-2010 11:02 PM

that aint no fun i had to tow mine 6 miles on a tractor with nocab in th snow to git it to start

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 11:04 PM

damn, when my cps went out we had ta get the ol case out ta haul it to the farm, in 2 or 3 feet of snow, lucky us it was the 970 which has a cab

farmboy01 12-07-2010 11:10 PM

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 11:12 PM

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 11:16 PM

farmboy01 12-07-2010 11:17 PM

sounds like a mean little mudder

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 11:20 PM

haha pending on the spot, it does amazing on the trails in the woods, but in an actual mud pit it does alright do to low axle clearance

farmboy01 12-07-2010 11:26 PM

sounds fun my old truck i use for muddin tranny went out so cant play except in reverse.

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 11:31 PM

99stackedpowerstroke 12-07-2010 11:37 PM

farmboy01 12-07-2010 11:39 PM
