Oil leak

:argh:I have read a few posts about oil leaking in various places on top of the motor. I'm new to the diesel world and am amature at best when it comes to maintenance on them. I have a leak that originates somewhere on top of the block and it makes its way to the back and down the back of the block. Where is the HPOP exactly located and where would the most obvius places be that it would leak from. The motor does not statically leak when not running. Only while the motor is running and the pool at the bottom is only about 3-4 inches in diameter. The "valley" I see mentioned here has several little pools in various locations no bigger than a silver dollar. So any help you guys can give me would be great.

Love you forum here too!!

Thanks,

Steve

Clean out the valley with some degreaser and a hose, do a really good job. Then you can shove some papertowels down there to more isolate the leak. The HPOP mounts just below the fuel bowl, has two hoses that come out on the drivers side and go to each head.

Your leak could be coming from the IPR, ICP sensor, the HPOP gasket or the "non serviceable" plug...

:argh: Oh, one more thing...it started the day after I got the oil changed.

Otherwise its not related.

Read my post under the general tab, Who Pays. Funny thing I hear there is something under or near the back of the turbo. I'm Very new to this as well. I think my problem is some O-rings (maybe yours) above the oil filter on the big tube.
