Ball joint replacement
How can we tell it is time to replace ball joints
on my 7.3l f350:argh: |
Bad tire wear is a good sign. Remove the tire and jack the axle up. Use a prybar and see if there is any slop.
|
Jack up the front end and wiggle the tire from top to bottom and watch to see if your knuckles move.
|
Ive tried both ways, Tire wear is def a good indicator. But jacking it up and moving the tire is the best way to feel for it. Watch out tho because play in your tire could also be a bad wheel bearing.

That's why I like to use a prybar on the knuckle itself. Takes the wheel bearing play out of the equation.
