7.3 Oil leak..

my stock 2000 7.3 leaks a little oil not from the bottom but i find oil on the top of the motor at the rear in the valley...trying to figure out where the hell its coming from but not sure..any one have any suggestions on what it could be or even where i should begin to start looking????

Turbo Pedistal, Turbo, Exhaust Back Pressure Valve, HPO fittings, HPOP, Could also be fuel from the drain valves... Clean up the valley really good and watch it for a few days.

yeah what he said, i'd lean more toward the turbo pedistal but you never know until you dig into it

check your hi pressure oil pump and resavoir and lines going to heads

I just park in the dirt now at home. I think that's all these do is leak oil.

i would lean towards the hpop lines going to the heads, it could be leaking there and as your driving the oil is running to the rear of the motor,

My 93 leaked oil. lifted the engine in my driveway. replaced the oil pan. done. my 85 doesn't leak one drop of ANY liquid. it was leaking PS fluid which was a seal which i fixed in my driveway until 5 in the morning. I do all my work and take pride in my truck. when you do this your truck lasts. I've been around a lot of powerstrokes and they're owned by people who take pride in them. None of theirs leak. One kid i go to school with likes to try to blow smoke and beat on his truck. guess what it leaks a lot of oil

I agee with cleaning the valley and watching to see where it is coming from.

it probly wouldn't be a bad idea to get some of that engine degreaser on there to clean it up a little and just make sure everything is clean.

So does every ford leak at 85k on the O.D? Yes I can fix it sure but dang how many times do you have to fix them? Did the rear turbo seals, yes the yellow ones. Then the hpop, All if it. Now it looks to have another leak coming from maybe the valve cover, Oh the other sensor is leaking oil into the plug, Yes the one next to the hpop. I'm just saying this is all before the tranns goes bad which I'm Sure will be next. Look at the pattern of these and tell me I'm wrong about the 7.3. They say this is the best engine Ford made and if this is true I hate to see the bad one.

Oh I also took it to the dealer to get the oil changed and they broke something and had to replace More oil seals up above the filter and I'm glad they did. I'm sure they where about to leak before the end of the week anyway being how that is what they do. I have learned all of this in the 2 months I've had it.

This is really my fault because I did by a Ford and this will be my Last ford Ever. Anybody want to buy it while it still runs?

Its a diesel they all leak. Like my buddy said "my cummins probably leaked oil before it left the factory". Its not just fords. I have about 8 friends with diesels they all leak something. Thay all have dodges Im the only one with a ford and mine leaks nothing at all. It has oil coming from somewhere but it never drips dont know where its coming from thats a spring project. I would say its just cause its older now o rings dont last forever

I'm learning this but man the truck only has 85k on the ticker. My 2000 corvette NEVER leaks a drop and she just turned 100k. Oh well not a big deal, btw thats funny stuff saying it Leaked before it left the factory.. I sure hope my 09 GMC does not do this, but she has a 100k warrenty and I won't have it that long anyway.:c:
