i have a 99 f 350. i don t know if this is the same thing ya ll are talking about but when it is cold mine will sound like a jet when i m running down the rode. when i let off the accelerator it sounds like a waste gate opening and stops. it will also stop when i get into the throttle some more. it does it all the time though. i had an 01 and it did it when it was warming up but quit when it warmed up. the 99 is a manual and the 01 was an automatic. does that make a difference? is this normal? it seems like it cuts down on the power when it does it.

That is the actual wastegate sound. I was talking about a whistling during a sustained speed. It was the Ebpv.

i have a 99 f 350. it sounds like a jet running down the road when it is cold. it does it at cruising speeds but quits when i get in to the pedal more. it seems like it looses a little power when it does it. it also sounds like a waste gate popping open when it quits. is this normal? i had an 01 that would do the same thing but just when it was sitting warming up. it would quit when the motor warmed up. the 99 does it all the time. the 99 has a manual trans. does that make a difference?

yeah as soon as i let off it starts back with the jet sound. i say jet because i have a straight pipe on it. but yeah i get in the pedal it stops. let off a little it starts back. but if it s normal i won t worry about it. my 99 just seems like it does it worse then the 01
