What would you do?

I've isolated my 00psd down to 2 injector's AT THIS TIME,would you put 2 injectors into it or all 8.00psd with 223000 miles on it without knowing the history, fla truck i bought a couple of months ago.Pisses me off to spend 1500 on all 8 but what do you do.:c::moon:

CSIPSD 05-12-2010 08:18 PM

How do you know the injectors are bad? What is leading you to this?

mod11 05-12-2010 09:12 PM

I emailed and then talked to Mike Cleary on the phone personly, very informative, very direct and to the point. We walked thru a few test and #s i've recorded thru my process of the no start conditions,i've run and rerun the glow plug testing and it seems to come down to this, just thought other opinions/experiences would help in the painful $ process.Leaning towards all injectors with the mileage of truck.:c:Just thought maybe somebody else would step up and let me know their side.

You need to run a cylinder contrubution test, buzz test, KOER test...

its not all that common for injectors to go bad. It does happen, but its not an everyday thing.

I still doubt its injectors myself.

mod11 05-13-2010 06:29 AM

I have run all the test you mentioned,I've tested, retested, retested, the glow plug circuits, replaced the glow plugs with the good Bosch plugs.....took new champions that ohmed the same as the new ones going in.Great oil pressure, great fuel pressure, changed oil twice in 1000miles to make sure it was clean.Look back at my post and you will see I've tried, any other suggestions before I make the plunge would be great. Most of the time the post do not get reanswered if you look back at the postings for this problem.I know your busy so thanks for the help.

get a switch from ford, you hook it to your computer and can shut off each cylinder try that

mod11 05-13-2010 03:20 PM

? what does the switch do?I can buzz test the inj and a cyl contribution test with my scanner. Is this a ford only tool?:c::humm:

Its an injector break out box...

I just hate to see you throw money at injectors when it could be many things... IDM, Wire harness, IPR, ICP sensor...

But if your going to do injectors...

With those miles, I would put 8 NEW AC code injectors in it, and a chip to run them.

Lange503 05-13-2010 06:26 PM

it has 8 buttons on it numbered 1-8 and and if you think you know which injector(s) is out, push those button(s) and if the truck starts and idles fine then thats it, do check the IDM and such though, i would check about everything before spending money on something thats not needed

mod11 05-13-2010 08:23 PM

I agree with testing everything.....I've run res checks on the harnesses a couple of times on the glow plug terminals and they are fine.Ipr reads fine cold or hot, does this not mean it is good?Same with the icp?If Iam missing something please let me know.Should I pull the harness and res check the glow plug side?I bought a ford manual on disc but have not went thru it again. If I could get away from injectors at this time it would be Awesome.:jump::c:Ready to go chevy hunting and pawn the ford.:moon:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I've checked ipr and icp and they seem within specs(don't have notes in front of me),Iwill test anything to not buy injectors at this time, howdo you test the idm?Do you need the breakout box for this?Keep the info coming, much much appreciated:c:
