Split Intake Hose
 

So, my good mechanic friend was testing my glow plugs (sadly they are gonna have to be replaced) and noticed that the intake hose was split right where it join to the turbo. The split is not new, there's a bit of oily residue inside the turbo and so... we hope no permanent damage.

So, I'm going to have to find a replacement and I will probably just get an original Ford part from my local dealer (sob).

But, my question to you guys is, could I cobble something together from PVC/Rubber parts? perhaps parts I could get at Home Depot?

The only thing I see stopping me, is the sharp turn the hose makes as it goes into the turbine. Its a 3" ID hose at that point, and widens to 4"ID to connect to the filter.

Any suggestions on this?

I have the split well covered with duct tape, for now, so it will do for a day or two, while I line up parts. We put three or four layers of duct tape over the split and also held them in place with a couple of zip ties. This probably not a great fix for any length of time, but should do me for a couple of days.

So, while I have this all apart, I'm replacing the GP relay, the glow plugs and this hose.
I'm also replacing the O rings on the fuel drain.

Any other suggestion that I should replace while I have it all apart?

The truck has 227,000 kms on it (that's about 170,000 miles) and I doubt and of the above has been done to it.

not to get off the subject to far but this split is before the intake on the turbo i would start watching for oil consumption and blowby the first signs you have dusted your engine and you can build your intake tube with anything that works and that is tight but i would buy aused one thats in good shape or a new one :humm:

Just get the one from Ford... There is nothing offered aftermarket for the stock turbo to CCV connection.

its common, happened to me too. I discovered it when i swapped out to install my 38R. Like Joe said, go with the OEM from Ford

The local Ford dealer wants $120.00 for one, and the local International Dealer wants $108.00.

I found a ambulance they are parting out that may have one on it, and if its in good shape I'll get it for $20.
