Crankcase Breather?

The Cummins guy has another question. My mom has an 02 7.3. I bought her a 4" turbo back and a cold air intake for her birthday. I install the 4" and when I went to install the cold air I notice that where the crankcase breather inters the intake hose it was covered in oil all the way back to the turbo. The blades also had oil all over them. I wiped it down to remove all of the oil. Is this normal for a Powerstroke? If not what do I need to do to fix it?

Its quite normal... If your going to leave it mostly stock I would not mess with it...

Otherwise you can vent it to air and install a 4" piece of exhaust where the CCV intake was...

So it's not something I should worry about. Thank you.

Glad to hear that this is normal.

On another forum there's been a lot of talk about a modification that vents it to the air, etc...

I mentioned it to my mechanic and he wonders if the stock setup provides some lubrication to the turbine bearing.

Any thoughts on this?

The only thing the stock set up does is make your boots look like crap, and leak and pop off...

Vent it to air, over the top of the brake booster and as far back as you want.
