I have a 2000 f350 with a 7.3 and the turbo isn't working. i dont have a check engine light on i have checked the turbo it is still turning and looks alright. i dont have any exhaust leaks and the truck doesn't smoke. the truck runs fine other than the turbo doesnt kick in any suggestions?

I moved your thread down here where it will get a bit more exposure...

Check all your boots, from the turbo to the intercooler, and from the intercooler to the Y pipe... Also check the boots under the Y pipe.

Also check to make sure the MAP sensor is hooked up on the Y pipe as well.:U:

Have you checked for codes?
Check for any restriction in the exhaust, plugged air filter, etc.

royslsbry 11-08-2009 09:38 PM

no exhaust restriction and no codes

Did you see these questions... check EACH boot, feel it for tears or blisters...

Also, is there a loud hiss sound from the exhaust?

sounds like exhaust back pressure sensor/valve.that same valve is what the 7.3 uses to help the engine warm up.you can also get an exhaust brake from ford that gives you manual operation of that valve.those valves can get gummed up,when they do it's like driving with the brakes on,plus it will hiss out the exhaust.

you could aslo check to make sure the waste gate is not stuck open.

no power could be from no fuel pressure. you need a boost gage or a scanner that can read live data to see what your boost is
