Is it possible the less your waste gate is tightend the more smoke you will get??

Higher EGT's, Lower MPG, More smoke, less horsepower... Other then that... NO

how would I go along as taking this loose?? the wastegate it self has a rod sticking out the end, is the spring located internally thanks

Guys, I am playing along for now, but your questions are coming off a little strange. If you are just playing with the forum members the posts will be deleted, if your looking to play with each other, take it to PM's.

If the question is legit, I have answered it. There is nothing to gain by loosing your wastegate.

less drive pressure, but less boost and if its too loose the turbo wont even spool up unless you have fooled the maf or map sensor.

Its legit man. We are just interested in everything about diesels. We like to learn how to take things apart to put them back together, were just curious

There is no wastegate on a Phat71... unless its external...
