Dieseled Out!!!! - 2000 7.3L problems

Need Help!!!! 2000 F250 SDuty 7.3.....truck died on me at a red light and will not start, truck has been solid to this point. Truck will turn over and wants to start but that's all. Did notice that when key is half way the "wait to start" icon does not show up as usual. Have repalced the cam-sensor and oil is at the right level. Also noticed that some fuses are being blown for some reason, do you think I have a short somewhere in the harness coming out of the firewall?

you might have a short some where try and put an higher amp fuse in it to see it it blows out. you might have a bad lift pump to.

No lift pump on a 7.3...

To the OP, do you have a chip? Not a programer but a chip? Sounds to me like your PCM is cooked or one of the harnesses on the motor has shorted out. Check across the top of the motor, there are a ton of wires up there, but the ones that go to the valve covers are the most troublesome.

also check while cranking and see if you are getting oil pressure. oil pump might be shot

how about a cam position sensor going bad? just a thought. heck i dont know if they have one but i work on alot of internation stuff and dt's have them and thats a common prob. sorry if i just rambled a bunch of stuff that dont matter:c:

IDM Module, Crank Sensor, HPOP, PCM , ECM, Shorted wire
All of which with the exception of the crank sensor and HPOP can blow fuses. The first step is replace the fuses and see if they pop as soon as you turn the switch on.

:U:Some 7.3L's had Lift pumps

The heater in the fuel bowl will short out and blow fuse causing a no start. Unhook the heater element and replace fuse. If the WTS light comes on then thats probably your problem.

Thanks

To All of you who posted a thread in trying to get me back on the road, I appreciate you passing your experiences to me. Well, what I had was a bare wire rubbing against the motor that was the causing the fuses to blow, thus the truck not starting. Once again a HUGE thanks to all and to all a good TRUCK......
