I always prefer to go with Wal-Mart batteries myself.

Here is how I look at it.

If you are out traveling and one of your batteries craps out you can find a Wal-Mart just about any where you go in the country.

O'Reillys, Auto Zone, NAPA and other parts stores are not all over the country like Wal-Mart is.

So I recommend going with a brand you can figure will be available just about anywhere you go. But if you never go any where then local may be ok for you.:U:

In a ten year span of me buying only Optima brand batteries I finally had one take a crap on me this past month. I ran two yellow top Optima's in my 01 F250. Apparently Optima has been hit and miss as of lately according to two different reputable automotive sources I talked with. The baffle inside the batteries has been the biggest issue. Mine personally dropped a cell and was running @ 10.6 volts and draining down my other battery. I got three years out of the failed unit before it crapped out. However Optima used to have a better and longer warranty for the yellows and blues. Now they are 12 month on the yellow and I believe either 12 or 18 month on the blues. The way to roll is buy red tops since they have 800 CCA in most applications and have a 36 month warranty. I'm now running one red and one yellow and have great success.

However if I were ever to run any other type of battery it would be either a Napa heavy duty or an Interstate Magtron
