an actual "tune up" on a 7.3 consists of what :humm:

Woody35 06-23-2009 08:41 PM

maybe change all the filters and do a oil change. this isnt a gasser when at 100,000 miles you need to replace the entire ignition system

Superstroker10 06-23-2009 08:46 PM

holy CRAP... what is tune up consisting of??

yeah thats what im thinkin, filter changes, and some fluid swaps, but the timing if electronically controlled so it cant be off... i think

replacing injectors would cost more than $900, maybe they clean up the fuel lines and check for clogs, replace all hoses fuel/cooling/air related

if a 7.3 has a timing belt instead of timing gears it can loosen up over time and cause it to become out of time. though the computer will continue to advance it till it cant anymore. at least thats what happens on 6.5s.

if its running fine why would you check for clogs or clean them up. but replacing hoses is a good idea

no timing chains just a cam and crank gear....so! replacing quick connect lines would be expensive. sounds fishy to me

who knows. sounds like there trying to take him for a ride

There is no 100k tune up. Keep clean fuel, oil and air going into them and short of modding them they will run 250,300k with nothing else. At that point they most times need a set of injectors, and you can go for another 100k or so.
