2000 psd six speed growning noise in tranny
my 2000 psd has a growning noise when taking off. i know this is a common noise on these six speed manuals. but i once was reading some where that there was some trans fluid that you could put in it and it was supposed to help stop that noise. only problem is i cant find out what kind of fluid that is. does anyone know of any fixes to stop the tranny from growning when taking off?

2001 PSD 6 speed Mine does the same thing. It aimost stopped the noise after I changed the clutch. I was told that the noise is coming from center trans shaft, that lines up this shaft in the back of the motor. I did change the small center bearing in the back of the main shaft. I was was told, after the clutch exchange, that I should have goten an oversize sleave to put on the end of shaft. Seems to be caused by this part. By the way, I have 268,000 on tranny and motor.

could be the clutch/throw-out bearing, does the noise get louder or quiter when you push in on the clutch?

It's not the throw-out bearing. I put a new one in. It's coming from the pilot shaft. As soon as you get the RPM's up a little. it goes away.
