2001 F350 7.3 liter 4x4 crew cab dually catilitic converter
Wil it improve horse power and performance if the Catilitic converter is removed?
Will it improve mileage? Will it damage the engine? Zane. |
Remove the cat. It wont realy improve milage until you start "bombin" your truck. It will not dmage the engine
|
no it wont hurt, no you probably really wont feel a seat of the pants power increase, it might help your mileage a little but like stated above a chip or programmer is when you'll see the most mileage increase:U:
|
can you recommend a chip or programmer?
|
Get yourself a good 4" exhaust system and drop the Cat. TS Performance makes a 6 position chip for the 7.3 powerstroke. Adds 140hp. I would recommend gauges before you add the chip.

:iws: Ts makes a good chip. But definatly get some gauges or else you can kiss your tranny and engine good bye
|
I also know a lot of people like the Tony Wildman 6pos Chip. Ive never ran one but we have installed a ton of the TS chips. High Idle is also a nice feature you can get with the chip.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to get a chip that is geared for good mileage.
This is my first diesel and I want good mileage. I have been told that Edge is a good chip for this application? Would I still need gauges for this and can you recommend gauges that are affordable? The truck will be used for hauling a Bigfoot truck camper only. Thanks Zane. |
We can set you up with a Edge Juice with Attitude (Box and Gauges) or we can set you up with a TS Chip and Mechanical Gauges. Really depends on it you like Digital or Mechanical Gauges.

i have the edge juice with attitude and afe air intake and 4" exhaust turbo back
and on the milage setting # 1 and keeping it under 2000 rpm 22 to 24 mpg no problem i love it and is great on the fly when you have a ricer next to you wanting to race and you put it on level 5 and smoke him out and blow his doors off |
