99.5 7.3 has burnt up 2 HPOPs

I have a 99.5 F-250 7.3 that has burnt up or ruined to HPOP in the last 2 months. :argh:The injector orings and ICP regulator have been replaced. The new HPOP tested at 1800PSI then we drive it home then about 1 week later it wont start and the HPOP test at 500PSI:argh:. What could cause this? Also I have noticed oil in the vally of the engine wich sounds like bad turbo pedastel orings?

That's what my guess would be. Someone with a little more Ford knowledge OUGHT to chime in. :U:

Sounds to me like they need to test the LPOP. Aerated supply or low supply could be the problem. Are they sure the pumps are bad? Was the level checked in the reservoir?

The resevior was full. The pumps tested 1800psi then a week later they tested 500psi so we are pretty sure the pumps are bad.

What's the chance of getting two pumps that were bad re-mans? What does the oil look like? Was the oil and filter changed each time?

The oil looks basicly brand new. The oil only had about 300-400 miles on it when the first pump went bad and proboly 500 mies after the next pump went out. It has shell rotella 15-40w with a quart of Bars stop smoke

mech2161 01-21-2009 07:10 PM

But was it changed after the first pump went out?

Yes.

oil in the valley could be the pedestal o-rings or leaks from the high pressure oil lines.
