straight pipe
 

ok well my truck as u can tell is a 99 f250, i picked her up from and uncle of mine and its straight piped, is that bad? vs a exhaust system performance wise..i mean its sounds and runs like a bat outta hell but ive always been curious on weither straight pipe or an exhaust system is better and if you think an exhaust system is better let me know were to find some 4 in all the way and were to find all new piping like down pipes and all that

I don't believe the straight pipe is going to hurt anything, there are a lot of trucks out there that are that way. I think the free flowing exhaust may result in lower egt's. my truck has the 4" Magnaflow exhaust on it, but if you look inside the muffler there isn't much there. It is mostly for looks to pass state inspection.

man i got 5 inch straight exhaust it breathes alot better run lil cooler and dam she is loud . i had magnaflo on it didnt run as cool but over all i like my straight better

you exhaust is fine, i have a custom dual 5in on my ford with no cat of muffler. some states a turbo is a "muffler"

Nothing wrong with the straight piping a stock exhaust...

but if you add an exhaust system, you can get a larger (I have a 4") downpipe from the turbo-back and it will help keep your EGT's in check, especially if you are towing or have a chip/tuner of any kind

I have only heard of a odd occurance on my buddys 2000 powerstroke. he let out of the throtle real fast and sucked a valve. doesnt nessesarily mean that it was because it was straight piped. I say leave it:U:
