I'm somewhat new here, been reading a lot but just recently joined, this is my first post. Great site!!

I just bought a 99 (12/98 date) F350 crewcab 2wd dually, 7.3 automatic. It's really in good shape and about 140k. All stock so far...I'm new to powerstrokes, not to diesels.

My issue is, at cruising speeds, sometimes the RPMs will jump up, power and speed slacks off then it grabs again and goes on. Doesn't grab hard, just eases back into it. Almost like you hit the clutch on a manual then slowly let it back out. The ATF is still full it was nice and red but is starting to have some dark on the dip stick. It doesn't smell burnt. Is this the torque converter giving out of do i have more serious problems?

I'm changing the atf and filter this week, but I'm afraid it's something serious...
