Fuel Pressure Regulator Fix
 

Truck: 95 F350, 315K miles. Intercoller installed.
Engine: 01 E350 Converted to fit the 1995 truck.

I have the E350 fuel pump mounted on the chassis rail, tanks are 100% clean, I have a filter before the fuel pump. THe fuel pump is new. I normally run 65psi on fuel pressure. I have a gauge in the cab.

Lately, under hard acceleration my fuel pressure, FP, will drop to 20psi, then 0 psi, then start to run rough.

I took the fuel pressure regulator, FPR, apart and installed a new piston and a blue spring. The old piston was very dirty and sticky. The schematic that I will attach ......shows an o ring and a piston seat, number six and seven in the diagram. I did not remove these old items. I tried to get them out with a pick, I left them in place. The old piston did have a very small o ring around the cylinder seated on the piston's shoulder. I put this new o ring on the new piston and re-inserted the piston and the spring and the cover.

I started the truck and I now have 90 psi at idle.

I think something is wrong.........ideas?

I knw this is an old post but what did you do to fix the high fuel pressure issue after rebuilding the FP regulator? I'm having the same problem now. thx
