4.10 to 3.73
Anyone ever change out rear axle completely with a different gear ratio? Burnt up my bearings in rear axle (4.10 11.25) and it has been recommended to just swap the whole thing, so while I'm at it, I figure I could get a 3.73 to go up under there for a little better highway mileage. Obviously transmission swap would be more beneficial but why fix what isn't broken.. yet. Anywho, just seeing if it is a straight swap or if I should find the exact same axle I currently have.

Transmission swap would gain you almost nothing. If it's the axle from the same number of years just swap it. But you will have to swap the front too
