f-250 battery issues?

I have a 2000 f-350 with the 7.3 with 179,000 miles. Just bought the truck and found out motor was worn so i had a new long block put in. about 2 weeks ago i noticed all the lights on dash cluster lit up when i went to start it. just turned key again and had no problems cranking. this past week i started it up drove about 10 feet and truck shut up and lights came on again on dash cluster. started back up fine. two days ago i went to start truck up and battery light started blinking and truck wouldnt turn over so i charged batterys and they are fine. after charging batterys truck will turn over but will not start and battery light is still blinking. could it be something as simple as a battery terminal (would that cause truck to shut off after its already started?)

Very similar problem ...

I am also having a very similar problem with my 2001 7.3l F250 PSD. As far as I know the engine has never been swapped out and has 192K miles on it. I went to start it a week ago (two optima red top batteries) and I noticed the battery light was on while waiting for the "wait to start" light to go off which had not happened before. The truck started strong then immediately died. It then started right up again. The next day a similar problem but then died after about a block and then started right up again and ran fine. I went to battery source and they checked the batteries and found one of them was bad (at 9.26 V). Alternator tested good. So I got a new redtop and problem seemed to resolve until today when it acted as if it was almost going to die this morning but then "caught" and started strong. It's got me worried. Truck is fully serviced, batteries are now testing fine, alternator is fine, no apparent shorts that I can see, fuses all look good. Having a hard time figuring this one out.

I did recently replace the water pump which was going bad and at the same time replaced the fan clutch, serpentine belt (which was shredding from the wobbling) and the idler and tensioner pullies. Anyone have any ideas? I have tried to check wiring but I just don't see anything obvious. I am considering the battery cables might be old/bad only because they look like crap on a 14 year old truck. I don't have anything to articulate this with. Help!
