7.3L Suddenly Died, Won't Start, Help!
Hi, I have a 99 7.3l SuperDuty here in Costa Rica....Has been at the Mechanics for two weeks and I need my tuck for work.
I was accelerating after slowing down, the engine and turbo whistle sounding good and suddenly, just like someone had turned off the key, the truck cut out and has not started since. I have had fuel related issues previously, with the pick up filters being clogged inside the fuel sending device, this is different, no chugging or sputtering, nothing. I have the new grey cps, no start . . . New UVCH Intn'l Wiring Harnesses, New MC glow plugs, plenty of fuel, clean filters. The harness and plugs all Ohm out fine. Would an IPR valve failure cause the engine to suddenly die, no sputtering, just stop? HPOP? Parts are mostly non existent here, or 3x the price, but have a friend coming in a week that could bring me a few parts . . . which ones?? Thank you very much! |
When you turn the key on, does the "Wait To Start" light come on?
|
I checked it out today, yes the WTS light comes on as normal, cranks over but never makes a rumble. I read about the fuel bowl heater shorting out but all fuses and wiring seem to be sound.
The mechanic has some Ford and Chevy experience and swears that it is the IPR valve? Big Red was was sounding great ( I had just replaced injector, now running on 8) accelerating and just completely 'turned off' :argh: Would an IPR do that if it lost electrical contact? Thanks for any help, any time you are way down south, the cerveza is on me! |
Was the CPS a new FORD unit or aftermarket?? I say that because I had that problem with a dead out of the box aftermarket grey CPS.
