hot tranny need help
 
Hey guys i was driving my 02 around today and didnt go very far and noticed the transmition gauge was running way higher then normal. what could this mean and what should i do?

Change fluids and maybe install a new filter in the pan

Check your transmission cooler lines to make sure they are not pinched going to and coming from the transmission cooler

As mentioned, check your fluid level and the cooler lines. Also, check to make sure your converter is locking up like it's supposed to.

Digging deeper, I'd pull the cooler lines and check for restricted flow. The converter clutches like to come apart in those and send debris out into the cooler. Much restriction and the bypass tube will open, allowing the fluid to bypass the cooler system completely.

How high is "higher than normal"?
