2002 F250 Superduty Low Fuel Mileage

I have a 2002 F250 Superduty with a 7.3 powerstroke. It has a cold air intake, 4" turbo back exhaust, edge juice with attitude chip/programmer. I have been getting 13 mpg this winter/spring with the programmer off. Last weekend when I filled the tank I set the programmer for mileage to see how much difference that would make. I do not have a lift kit on the truck just a leveling kit and slightly oversized tires I think 285's. I see most other people get at least 15-16mpg in the winter with the same truck, and closer to 20 in the summer. The truck seems to run fine, and i am not driving it hard or pulling anything with it but shouldnt it get better mileage than 13?? What can I check to improve my mileage? The truck has about 186,000 miles.

on the manifold not positive what side i THINK its the driver side there is a tube that runs off the manifold to somthing i forgot where to its been awhile ive had to work on one.. but the tubes occasianally start getting plugged with soot after awhile and it cuases them to get bad fuel milage. you can take it off and clean it or take it off and just buy a new one.. ive heard stories of when people clean them they detariate and break

Yeah, the EBPT runs along the passenger side of the engine. It can sometimes get clogged, but a small snake will clean that just fine. The EBPS is what is most likely clogged. Its really easy to take off, and you can try to clean it with a decarbonizer, but its really tricky to do without damaging it. THerefor i would recommend just buying a new sensor. Be very careful when replacing the sensor that you dont torque it down too hard. Dont ask me about how I had one bust off one time...:argh: Other issues about poor fuel economy could be boost leaks and issues in the fuel system such as aeration, plugged filter, and poor pressure.
