7.3 no start, unplug icp then ran, then no start
So........ 2002 7.3 Powerstroke, stock work truck. 244k miles. New fuel pump, fuel filter, cps sensor.
It died on me this morning a block from my house, pulled it home, checked HPOP level it was pretty empty, filled it up, still no start. I unplugged the ICP sensor, it started right up, went for test drive, she ran awesome, then a mile away she died again. Towed it back again, I checked the level in the HPOP it was down about 1.5 to 2 inches again. Does this mean that the IPR is bad also? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. So, you disconnected the icp and it ran for awhile, then died. After you replaced the icp it was fine? Thanks |
Correct. one way to tell if it is bad is to see if oil is seaping through the plug. Also the icp should come with a new harness be sure to replace the harness and the icp.

There is a lot of oil coming out of the icp connection, so I am guessing that it is toast.
I am going to top off the hpop again, and replace the Icp tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks again. |
Not a problem. people help me out a lot on here. just doing the same.

I replaced the icp - didn't start. Just replaced the IPR - didn't start. Now what?
I just stuck a ton of money into this thing and need it for work this spring, please help! |
Solution: I had bad injectors. Sent injectors to Jim at Rosewood Diesel and had premium stock rebuild, now the truck purrs like a kitten, a big kitten. Thanks for the help everyone.
