Dp-tuner mpg help

Ok so my truck I think I'm averaging 12 mpg right now and that's with my chip at 75hp I think I am currently running the bullydog 6 position chip I have a 6" lift 4" exhaust. I'm thinking about going to 35's and switching to a dp-tuner chip with economy setting how much will this help??

I'm guessing it will help next to none and adds to the chance of having windowed block

I have over 70k miles on my truck with my dp-tuner and no windowed block so I would say you will be ok. Regardless of tuners used rods break when they are stressed. The last guy that I saw one go it had a TS chip.

However up until 1 week ago I had no intentions on ever changing tuners and now that I have I love my new chip.

you would have to pay me to run a DP tuner. most people love them till they try something else

Next time I need tunes I'm probably going to go with gearhead, but beans, swamps, PHP and DI all all good choices

bowietrucking 03-13-2013 05:48 PM

i run a dp tuner in my truck and like it. took out a ts chip because my egts were to high towing. lost some power with the dp obviously b/c thats how i wanted it tuned, but the egts are lower and i did pick up slight (less than 1) mpg. also have an older edge programmer in one of my trucks. egts are lowest of all the 3 tuners i had, but the power is lower too.

joebob3093 03-14-2013 12:57 AM

you can take the edge out its doing nothing. was it a stock TS or was it custom tuned? if it was stock then you can not even compair them. thats like compairing the DP to a banks chip.

Everyone that I've talked to says to ditch the bullydog chip so there has to be something to that plus no one runs them

Is it a bullydog 6pos chip or is it one of there boxes? If its a chip I think some people can Reburn it.

Utahford 03-16-2013 10:51 AM

I have heard that but yet to find anyone that does. That's why I'm looking to change to one that I can get custom tunes and reburn

try php and the best way to get fuel economy is to put it on the highest hp setting and pawpaw it

Montgomery P-Stroke 03-27-2013 08:09 AM

I've been through 4 different chips/ programmers and the mpg has all been just about the same. That being said my truck gets 12 mpg stock and 14 with a chip in the 80-100 hp range under normal city driving conditions. I'm currently running PHP tunes and have been very happy with them so far. The right foot controls your mpg so once the new wears off you may see an improvement.

Ok with my bullydog set at the 50hp setting cruise control set at 75 mph I averaged 14.8 mpg on the freeway

Any speed faster than 70 the fuel mileage seems to drop like a rock especially with lifted trucks. Mine still gets about 14.5 at 80-85 mph on cruise with the 35" tires. I'm assuming your mileage is hand calculated and not by the lie-o-meter. What size tires are you currently running?

Utahford 04-04-2013 10:17 PM

Ya hand calculated, currently 37's

Montgomery P-Stroke 04-05-2013 10:12 AM

My truck used to have 37's then 38 X 15.5's with 8" of lift. The 37's were 1 mpg worse than my current and the 38's were 2 mpg worse.

Utahford 04-05-2013 11:11 PM

Well sweet I want 35's actually so that's good to know
