truck died while rolling down the road
my buddys early 99, was running down the road today and check engine flashed and truck died. cranks fine, oil is good. changed cam sensor. checked fuses. the wait to start lite does not come on at all. and the glow plug relay doesnt get hot (but it may have never worked, idk, his truck, not mine.). any simple ideas before we tow it to the shop? put 2 different scanners on it, and it said unable to communicate or something along that line. thinking computer??? he has an edge and ts chip stacked (and i know, everyone says you cant do this, but he swears he can play around with both of them and it makes a difference).

Fuel bowl heater... Did you check underhood fuses? #30 I would be suspicious of...
If that fuse is good, check to make sure the TS chip is still in position on the PCM... Could have come off... In fact, just remove it and try to start the truck. |

Sounds like a CPS (cam position sensor). Rather common for those 7.3s.
