About to purchase a 7.3...advice needed!

Hey all, I'm new here as you can see, and about to make the leap into the diesel world. I've been doing my homework the past month or so, and have settled on the 7.3 Powerstroke. I've found what I think is a gem of a truck, and plan on going tomorrow to see it in person, and if it checks out, I think I'm gonna buy it. I just would like your thoughts/advice on it, major things to look for, and what to expect after, if I do purchase it.

It's a 2000 F250 7.3, 146,XXX miles, for $9900 (no haggling yet). Carfax is clean, passed smog, engine was checked out by their mechanic yesterday with no issues, but of course I'm going to do my own extensive look-over as well. I plan to use it as a daily driver and occasional towing rig, nothing more than a 1 horse trailer. I don't plan on hot rodding it, dragging, or tractor pulls, etc. anything crazy haha, just want to keep it basically stock aside from normal mods like an exhaust, intake, and maybe a level/small lift down the road.

Anyways, what do yall think of this? Anything due to go bad soon around 146k miles that I should be aware of? Thanks for any input/suggestions!

Nope, with 146 you should still get some more miles before you need to start worrying about replacing the typical worn parts... Sounds like a good deal too.

Thanks Powersmoker, it seemed like a diamond in the rough to me since all the lots around here are chock full of 6.0's that are ticking maintenance timebombs, and the 7.3's others have were around 220k miles for the same price or more... and this one is the only one so far I've found that has the forged steel rods. I found that video series on Youtube last night that guides you through a used Powerstroke purchase, which greatly helped..now I've got a complete checklist to go through on it.
