leaking rear differential oil
my 2001 f250 is leaking rear differential oil on the front of the axle right where the drive shaft meets the gears. . i think it may be the seal leaking how do i replace it?

Remove the huge nut pull the yoke out pull old seal reverse for reinstall
|
use a new nut, and lock tight it. it gets torqued to around 500 ft lbs so a torque multiplier is needed or impact the hell out of it!!! iv'e done it both ways with my trucks with no issues.
|
my rear end doesnt spin freely when the drive shaft isnt connected? should it because i grabbed the tire and i couldnt turn it with my hands. and the e brake isnt on i dont think, and if it was it doesnt hold my truck ona almost flat ground. but i know the drivers side seal is out because theres greasey stuff all over the place. so it could have been outa oil long enough to try to lock up the axle?
