CPS change...

11 minutes...

Wife timed me last night, from the time I walked out the front door, to the shop to grab a 10mm gear wrench, then back to the truck under to remove the old, back to the cab to get the dielectric grease, back under to reinstall and test fire.

11 minutes...

Beat that suckas... LOL

I honestly dont mean to shoot you down... but seriously? It should take no more than 3-5 minutes...

10MM deep 1/4 socket/ratchet and a pry bar.

Unplug sensor, tuck it behind EBP tube, put socket on, break free, loosen bolt with fingers, put pry bar behind metal retainer, turn sideways, pops out. enough oil there already for new one to slide right in. Put it in, thread bolt, tighten, plug it in...

Never had to change one probly never will. Dont see a 7.3 in my future any time soon.

still fast no matter how u slice it. plus he did more than just swapped it out, he had some attention to detail while doing it... and his wife probably distracted him too :wow:

Its 80 feet from the front door to the shop, find the 10mm, walk back to the truck which was back at the house, pop the hood, walk to the passanger side and pull the CPS out of the dash, Crawl under there, stab the flash light up between the rad hoses and pull the old one out. Stand up and walk back to the cab and dig out my dielectric grease (because I forgot it the first time) and crawl back under there. Cover the CPS and electrical connections with dielectric grease and install. Get up, test fire, grab tools, shut hood, wall back to the shop and put the tools away and walk back to the house...

Just thought it was funny that she even timed me.:tu:

what does the cps do?

crank position sensor... it's a sensor that picks up what angle the crank is at and tells things like injectors when it's ok to fire. Notorious on the 7.3's for going bad. Most 7.3 guys carry a spare in the glove box.
