1996 powerstroke hpop empty
While pulling out of the driveway, truck stumbled & died. I checked the hpop & it was empty.I refilled it & got it to start for just a little bit & then it died. Rechecked hpop, found that it was empty again. I cannot find any oil leaks on the engine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

sounds like LPOP went out. IIRC, there is a plug on the inside of the timing cover that sometimes fall out, but i think that was on the 94's and 95's. look in the stickies for LPOP replacement. when it is running, is the oil pressure gauge showing anything?

Sounds like a low pressure oil pump issue...
|
... Have you checked the oil?

It could possably be a cracked oil pickup tube if you are showing low lubricating oil press, could possably be worn lpop or bad oil pickup tube seal. check the crankcase oil to make sure at propper level, there is also a oil pressure bypass valve in the rear oil cooler housing (above oil filter) that if failed would not build any oil pressure there by not producing enough pressure to overcome the check valve in the front of the block to feed the hpop resevoir.
