Boost

I was wondering if there is a way to get more boost out of my stock turbo. I know I'm only getting bout 12psi now and thats with a bad compressor wheel. but I should be getting a minimum of 15psi. I would like to if I can get 25psi out of it if there is a way to do that.

Injectors and a chip....

with the stage 1's and tunes I can get my stocker into the low 30's...

A chip will get you into the low to mid 20's...

Um you have a bad compressor wheel? Then how about fixing that before it toasts your entire motor before you worry about 'more boost'? If you dont have any compressor wheel, how do you think the air's gonna compress? By supernatural activity???? No blades= no air. Buy a turbo.

Get a 38r or just buy a wicked wheel. Then get a chip n injectors. I hit 30psi with my 38r and a chip with bigger nozzles

Our trucks have a wicked wheel stock. IF you are doing a new turbo, go with a D66 or a h2e. DONT get another stock one.

It's not as easy as just getting a 38r... For that to work on an obs, you need the entire set up including a drivers side exhaust manifold...

well I already have the compressor wheel I just need to put it in. but all it's doing is not getting the total air flow like it should, but ill be puttin it in next week sometime. but I don't have enough money to get a new turbo. but there is a buddy of mine who has an airresearch turbo off of an international tractor which garrett baught them out so idk if that turbo would fit or ill make it fitlol

Just replace the compressor and move on... Nothing wrong with the stock turbo until you decide you have some money that you have to spend or else somebody will have a faster 8k pound truck than you... :bombin:

Right so if the truck isn't getting the air flow (lets use the term "requested boost" to keep it educated), the truck most therefore overboost the turbo to so the "requested boost" is met with "actual boost". And since the compressor wheel is bad (gonna assume the blades are shot), instead of moving 100krpms to give you 20psi of boost, it's spooling 180krpms to give you only 12 measly pounds of boost. Fix whats broke before you try doing anything else.

o ya and thats what I'm going to do since I may have a little time next week between working cattle. but ya it's pretty pethedic getting only that much boost. and the compressor wheel 3 fins are bent on the end. not a whole lot but just enough so it's not making an air tight seal to get the boost it should have
