Look if ALL your doing is the mods in your sig, and overall just basic stuff, a good valvebody (OR a shift kit) and torque convertor will be good. Then if you really wanna be safe, add in a good trans cooler. MANY people run similar or greater mods and have those basic upgrades on their e4od and have great success.

Ya im gonna have to do something here pretty quick mine is getting bad

Just do it right the first time or you WILL be doing it again... And doing it right doesn't mean only installing a vb and tc... Those are parts that should be a part of your rebuild but it shouldn't be the entire rebuild... You think one transmission rebuild is expensive, doing it twice will just be silly.

True True. I also have the choice of a zf5 swap. i'm at a loss here

95powersmoker 04-29-2012 12:50 PM

I personally wouldn't go the 5speed swap route... I had the chance to trade my auto for the manual trans straight across... I just wasn't keen on doing all that work so I could have synchros or something fail on me and the rebuild costs for those are stupid. When it comes time for another transmission to go in my truck, just buck up and do it... Mechanical parts fail, that's the life of automobile ownership...

zf5 is a great idea.. good for overall towing. Lots of work though. Better mileage, more power, and more fun to drive. But auto holds boost better, will never downshift too low and ruin the truck, etc. Also better in bad weather climates.
