fuel pump leak on motor. replace with electric?

i have a fuel leak coming out of my motor fuel pump. i can replace it for about 100$ i was wondering should i just replace it with all electronic kit or just replace the part? if i got a electronic fuel kit would it make a difference? i looked at airdogs stuff... what do you think? i only want to spend around 550$

thanks fellas

i would say if it's jus ur lift pump leaking jus replace that and go but if u want to switch it to electric u can go and buy an air dog or other kits to convert it

just replace it. 100 bucks and a little time..

I'd say just replace it. Electric fuel is nice but you will be pushing your budget throwing together an e-fuel system..

the banjo bolt on the back of the pump is a 1 1/4"

do you think the bolt could just be loose?

possibly, put a wrench on it and see. a big cresent will not fit in there. on my 96 and 94 they leaked around the crimp on band towards the top of the pump.

are you absolutely sure its the pump leaking? most common leak points - drain valve on the front of the fuel bowl , water in fuel sensor on the rear of the fuel bowl , rubber fuel lines from pump to bowl, the metal washer at the rear of the banjo bolt.
i strongly suggest buying a rebuild kit for the fuel bowl and regulator from dieselorings.com and replacing every o-ring. also - goto ford, and buy the new blue rubber fuel lines that go from the pump to bowl. they are cheap, and are high heat hoses as opposed to just high pressure ones you will get from napa.

if you replace the pump - buy the pump, the metal washers for the banjo bolt under the turbo, the 3 blue fuel lines, new hose clamps, FB & FPR o ring kit, new fuel filter. i also suggest buying a 1/8 or 1/4 NPT male plug (i forgot the correct size) and removing and plugging up te hole for the water in fuel sensor on the bowl. if its not already leaking, it may in the fututre. if you pull the bowl, you can spend $40 on a new sensor to prevent a future leak, or $2 on a plug that will never leak. as long as you cange your fuel filter regularly you will not need that sensor. you will also need a 1 1/4" wrench for the banjo bolt. if you have patience you do NOT need to remove the turbo.
also, be careful removing the old pump, that you do not drop the tappet into the motor, or break the bottom of the old pump while trying to remove it. the last thing youll need is to accidently drop te tappet into the motor.
hope this helps.
