Take the head off unfortunately if it's broke and down in cylinder

Its not in the cylinder, the hex head on the gp is snapped off but is still conected somehow because all it does is spin and nothing happens

vice grips are going to be your friend at this point. You're going to need to get creative otherwise you will be pulling the head...

Some find it easier to take everything out of the way, pushrod, rockers, and sometimes that injector.

I went through this with a customers truck:argh: although the head wasnt broken off, the reason it wouldn't come out was because there was carbon buildup around the tip of the glowplug. My guess is that the plug got a little hot and whatever came into contact with it stuck :s:

Vice Grips and PB Blaster is your best bet like Powersmoker said. Just remove some stuff to get better access to it. Pull straight up while twisting clockwise and counter clockwise and use LOTS of PB. DO NOT try prying it one way or the other. And lastly, once the old GP comes out, make sure the other half of it comes out (so it looks like the new ones) so you're sure the other half isn't in the cylinder :tu:

I've been through this recently, the element of the plug was seized in the head and it took about 4 hours to remove it after some redneck ingenuity.

Thank you very much guys!!!!! i went with the vise grips method and the hex head pulled right out and the rest of the GP was sheared off flush with the head so i moved some stuff(rocker arm and pushrod) and went and got some extaction bits. After fighting with it for a few hours i stuck the bit into a socket and slowly turned it and when it would start to slip i would tap it with a hammer and go a little more until most of the bit was in the GP and i put some muscle into it and it broke loose and it came right out! I NEVER want to go through that again and BTW the broken GP was a BERU.

Yup same as mine from carbon buildup

What glow plugs are good to use? Only thing iv heard to use are motorcraft GPs and i heard all others are problomatic crap(BERU)?
