What is needed to run 2002 injectors in a 1995?

I am new to the PSD but have had a 12 valve in the past. I just got an E 350 van and it is missing. Pretty sure it is the injectors but I would love to hear some advice on how to test and make sure it is injectors.

I have a fiend who has a 2002 PSD that blew up (cracked piston I think) and he replaced his motor so he has a set of injectors from that motor. I was wondering what else I would need off the motor or if I would need a different computer to run his injectors in my 95 because I can get his injectors for pretty cheap if not free.

The 02 injectors are going to be split shot and your 95 is programmed to run it's single shot injectors which means a couple things... First of all, obviously you will need tuning to run them because there are a lot of things changed between splits and singles including timing... Secondly, you will more than likely need a HPOP 17* or equivalent because AD (the injectors from the 02) injectors are oil hungry little devils... Also, I'm sure you know but you will need to put some new orings on the injectors before swapping them.

So how would I tune it to run them? Would I be able to get a pre-set chip to do that? Or would I need to bring the truck to a dealer to reprogram the computer I have? And how do I get HPOP to 17*? I am used to my 12 valve where I just turn it up or down mechanically so I know nothing about tuning/computers :humm:

You need to get a chip burned for splits basically.. Any of the tuners can do it.. I had splits in my truck for a while and had Tony Wildman burn my chip for them.

For the HPOP, you need to look at aftermarket replacements. Adrenaline, SRP-1, Terminator t500.. All those would do the trick.

Well my buddy has the complete 02 motor and after doing some quick research couldn't I just use his HPOP on the motor that I would be stealing the injectors from? I would still need the tuner though but I was planning on getting one at some point anyway.

No.. The 95 is kind of a red headed step child... You will have drain back issues and hard starting issues if you just "throw" his HPOP into your truck. WHat you could do is call Terminator and see if you can't send in your HPOP and your buddies and have Joey swap the 17* internals into your HPOP housing... :c:

Alright I might have to do that. Is the 95 a weird year in both the van's and trucks? Mine is a van and I know most everyone on here probably has a truck not a van.

What is the best/easiest way to test if the injectors are the issue if I don't have access to a code reader or is it a must to use a code reader?

Don't know much about the vans but i'm sure its the same...

Not much you can do without having them flow tested... A scanner like AE or scan gauge could do buzz tests and that will give you an idea if the injector is getting the electronic signal... Taking the valve covers off, running the truck and watching oil spill from the oil deflectors is a quick and dirty way to do it... They should all spill evenly.

Checked it out this weekend and it turned out to be the computer that runs the injectors. I am getting one this week and it should run like a dream.

You don't "need" anything to run them. I ran ADs in my 95 for years with tuning for AAs on the stock 15* pump and stock Turbo. Did it run to its full potential? No, But it did run and had alot more power then before. Would I do it again? Probably not. I would still be running them but I had 3 go out. Not sure if improper tuning caused the premature failure but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the cause.
