1997 engine good for power?
I am buying a new truck and I found a 1997 that is exactly what i want but i wanted to make sure i would be able to get good power out of it. :humm:
What kind of power are you talking? You can get power but it's not cheap.
Its going to be my everyday driver but I'm thinking for good pulling power hauling heavy loads and the occasional truck pull
I wouldn't do much more then stage 1s
Cool, so its deffinately a sturdy engine though
Definitely. Just take care of it and they'll run forever.

In my eyes best truck to build power out of. You can
Make 1200 on the stock internals. For towing I would get stage one injectors ts chip with custom tunes and beef the trans up with some ats parts or what ever you desire. |

I've seen 961HP on a stock bottom end with 340k miles, after that one run they tore it down and it was trashed
you MIGHT make 1200 one time. if you are daily driving it i wouldn't push more then 5-600.
im not looking to get 1200 i just want some more hauling power, i dont have much of a budget right now but through time im thinkin injectors, chip and studs probably...its got a stick so i will probably beef up the clutch a bit thanks for all your input!
On a budget for injectors I'd go Rosewood, that's who I'm savin up for with my '95. Jim is a great guy to work with too!!
97 i think was the best year with the 7.3 i got one and its hooked to a trailer all the time pulling stuff but its also stock so either stock or puttin some upgrades on it ull hve all the power u want
