EBP valve / exhaust brake
 

I'm thinking about adding the switch to the Exhaust Back Pressure valve to make it into an exhaust brake. Another thread just mentioned a three position switch (on-off-stock). My idea is to make the "on" position have to also go through a relay controlled the IVS (idle validation switch). Anyone ever tried this or know of a reason not to?

you can do it. i seen a thread on here some where. the only down side to this is, there is a 2- 3- 4 second lag from the time power is applied and when the valve actually closes. i wish it would close instantly.

I think that lag is typical for even big trucks with factory brakes. I would be using it mostly when towing or hauling to save the service brakes in well anticipated brake action. I would still have full regular (service) brakes. I think I'll do it...just not sure when.

On a rig, the exhaust/jakes react the second your foot is off the throttle. If there is a delay, it is due to the driver still touching the pedal.

Yeah, they probably do at least begin to react immediately. There is still at least a minor delay in actual full brake action. At least they seem to to me.

I guess my DIY kit will be worse and take some getting used to...but the price is right.
