rebuilding an hpop
 
Anyone know anything about rebuilding an hpop? I have one that is not bad, but If I could rebuild it myself... well having 2 strokes, ... might be worth not sending it in for the $150 core

first off, ??TE?? second off, if I can rebuild a trans, or a turbo, or an engine, I doubt an hpop is all that complicated, does anyone know of a write up on it?

TE is terminator engineering. The hpop don't need rebuilding very often.

Why not buy instead of build? Probably price comparable, less chance of issue and its already been pressure tested. Because you can doesn't mean you should.

truly, can it be much more complex than a couple of seals and shims, or such? more complicated than a turbo or an injector?

wellllllllllllll....... these hpops run on 1/2 thousandths clearances, this is one of those instances where it is cheaper to buy instead of all the parts seperate. its a fixed swash plate design like hydraulic motors, but instead of the motor being driven by the pump, the motor IS the pump. usually with this crap its cheaper to just buy the whole unit.

It's no more complicated, maybe more specialty tools that ARE required unlike trans or injector tools.
It's the fact that you have NO ability to test and flow the pump until its back on the truck.
Let's say something let's go in the pump, or you left the tiny tip of a broken screw driver in it? It just means the truck is your test bench which requires more labor in the instance of failure.

I think you guys are just scared of stuff like this. I understand these sorts of things in .ooo1" I had to teach my boss how to read a mic to the ten thousandths the other day, and he is pretty precise. The only part of a turbo that I can't do in my driveway is the balancing, so I don't know how an hpop could be any tougher. Just like injectors, they have to stay immaculately clean I'm sure, but that is actually easier than it sounds if you know what I mean.

Rofl. Yep that's it for sure. That's why I've got a 4l30 apart, 4 or 5 turbos in apart, and a p7100 with the governors off of it , in my shop right now? Sounds like your ego out weighs your common sense and technical experience . There is a reason they build items like pump benches.
How bout this post some pics of your pop tester and injection,and pump test equipment...

For a logical reason not to do it. Do a google search and look where previous folks have done it without the specialty tools and destroyed there pumps. Mainly on another forum.
