Turbo help

My turbo has been making a horrible grinding noise when holding consistent 6lbs or so when the oil gets warm, or at least thought it was the turbo. There wasn't really any play just very slight up and down not much at all though and no in and out. I ordered the rebuild kit from beans, rubuilt the turbo and still making the noise. The only spot that looked like it could have been rubbing was the backside of the impeller but it looks more like a machined spot than rubbing. I dont know what else it could be.

What did the exhaust side look like?

Looked totally fine fins looked good and no wear marks

Another thing I noticed to is after driving when I park I smell a burning rubber smell under the hood so I don't know if it is maybe a pulley bearing. The grinding noise is similar to like fan hitting the shroud

And it only does it at about that boost level?

what about water pump? mine went out and it made a grinding sound.

Haven't checked the water pump yet. Not sure if its the boost or amount of load or the rpms thats just the only consistency ive seen is when I hold it around 6. I can build up plenty of boost over 25 accelerating without any noise.

:humm: the sound might only occur at certain rpm instead of boost. i'd check all the pulley's
