EBPV Jakebrake???
Is this worth it? Will the pressure in the motor screw anything up?
I got a 5spd and don't really know what people do to wire it to the pedals or a switch Thanks |
i did this on my SD and i love it. even in town driving you can really feel it. go to Swamp's Diesel Performance on the left side go to how to's and FAQ's. there is a complete write up on it for the OBS. auto's or 5speeds. and back pressure won't just so long you aren't accelerating with it closed.

it is not a "jake brake" it is an exhaust brake. i did it to mine and had it wired to a switch.

A jake brake is a brand of exhaust-brake... and no, you can accelerate w/ the ebpv engaged (because stock the programming allows you to accelerate up to 3/4 throttle I believe, w/out the ebpv disengaging). Wire it up to a switch somewhere.

A true Jake Brake is a engine compression brake. Not the same thing as an exhaust brake by any means. Yes Jacobs makes exhaust brakes but the are known for the Jake Brake.:c:

you cannot accelerate with it. when it is unmodified and is being controlled by the PCM, yes you can get to about 3/4 throttle then it will open. when it is on a switch, you override the PCM control. well you can still accelerate to a point but you have no power.

Has anybody ever put a switch on their ebpv and melted wires? I used the 18 gauge wire that was said to be used in the write up on swamp diesel but it melted them and then I got 12 gauge and it worked but when I switched it back off and then on again, it melted the 12 gauge!
Please help ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Nevemind. I got it Figured out |
