high pressure oil pump

I have a leaking "nonserviceable oil plug" on my 1996 F350 diesel. I have read that replacing this with a "serviceable oil plug" is easy and requires only replacing the plug. However , the Diesel O Rings company writes on their site that the pump must be removed in order to replace the plug without damaging the pump. Who is right? Thankyou, DBS

I'm not sure on the answer myself, my guess is the pump has to come out. I would say email Joey @ Terminator Engineering... He would know for sure.

Re: high pressure oil pump

I had that plug leaking. You can do it in cab but make sure you thread it in right. Mine got cross threaded and could not repaired. So I was forced to get a new case and had joey build me a modded 17 when it was there.
