To bore or sleeve?????

I am wanting to rebuild my '96 without spending the trucks blue-book on a reman. One machinist said I had to sleeve the cylinders back to stock because of known porosity in the blocks that cause cylinder failure if bored even a little. However, I just read in Desiel Power where they built a .030 over motor, although it was a '99 or newer model. Looking for educated opinions out there, Thanks

The only issues with porosity is when the wrong coolant is used, it can deteriorate the metal.]

EDIT: Or should I say, when the coolant doesn't have the proper additive in it, it will cause issues with porosity.

Just bore it over the min you need. I have run stock, .010 and .030 blocks without issues...

Or you can just keep your eye on CL for a used motor and drop it in... I have $800 total in the motor I am running right now.
