Dual fuel tanks

ok so i've got the dual fuel tanks and my rear tank is completely full of diesel and it doesn't work at all i hit the switch one day and drove the truck for about half a day thinking it switched to the rear but the fuel gauge never moved so i thought something was up and then a day later the truck started sputtering going down the road so i hit the front tank and it picked back up to normal. any ideas why it wouldn't be pulling anything up from the rear?

My guess would be a bad pick up...

what would be involved in fixing that?

After rereading your post, it sounds like you switched to the rear, but you think it stayed on the front tank and finished that off. But then when it started bucking, you switched to the front tank and it was fine? I guess I'm a bit confused on how that could be. If you kept running the front tank and emptied it, but switched to it when it started sputtering and it was fine?

My question would be is... DId the fuel gauge move when you were driving the rest of the day? How far down did it get?

If it's not switching to the rear tank at all, then that leads me to believe a bad selector valve. If it is switching to the rear tank, then the pick up might be bad, You would have to drop the tank to confirm.

I think it's the pick up because i swapped it to the rear but it didn't pull off the front anymore because the gauge didn't move at all and it started sputtering so i flipped back to the front one and it picked back up like normal
