ABS LIGHT

Well got new FPR kit installed, now the abs light stays on.
This is what we have done to this truck.
(1) Put dually rear end in,rebuilt rear brakes, same gear ratio, same tire size.
(2)removed sensor from old rear end when ABS came on,no change light still on.
(3)When driving down road speedometer bounces, trany down shifts in and out of OD.
(4)I have noticed that trans. temp. is a little higher.
(5)Truck shudders on take off from a stand still.
(6)I am getting the impression that TC may be some of the problem.
(7)Oil and filter changed less than 6months ago
(8)This may not mean a lot but truck only has 268,000 miles on it.
(9)We added a large cooler to it last year when we added gauges and found temp. was up
to 240 degrees and would not come down cooler brought temps. down to 200 degrees or less.
(10)Pulled battery cables off to clear any codes that may have come up when we changed the HPOP a few days ago. any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

I suspect the vehicle speed sensor (or possibly the wiring to it).

Yep, what did you do with the VSS?

forddually 04-20-2011 04:12 PM

Hi,i know what VSS is but search will not say anything about it. Is there a sensor on trany
that works with rear end sensor and are connected some way, will check wiring again.
Also we had lt315/75r/16 tires when we put in f-350 dually rear end and now we have
235/75r/16 tires now and this finally dawned a few minutes ago and i believe this is our
problem do you think this possible, thanks

ABS LIGHT

Hi,hers what i found out after spending 4hrs at the FORD garage, two mechanics spent this much time on my truck, when they got done they said that you could not re-program the
speedometer more than three times and if try for a fourth time it will lock you out,so then after the fourth time you have to buy a new and/or module.
Their reasoning was that if i understood them right was the signal goes from trany to speedometer then to PCM whereas newer trucks are different.
What makes this really annoying is the cost of fixing this is about $200.00 and if i go a wrecking yard i may get a cluster that may not even work and if it does i may end up back where i was to start with. My question today is, is there a work around that somebody knows about, thanks
